America Just Got a Little Less Gay

The "Don't Say Gay" mantra seems to be spreading across the country. What started as a state statute in Florida took a giant leap to progressively-minded Maryland, where parents have questioned the power of Maryland school boards to sprinkle a little gayness on school children. Maryland parents wanted the choice to opt out, whereas the Maryland school boards wanted to force gay education without consent (you can probably guess what political party is in charge).

Of course, the common-sense-minded Supreme Court decided that religious liberty trumped Maryland's preference for a rainbow education and the United States became a little less zesty. This resulted in a firm rebuke from Kentaji Jackson (she sounds like a she's a member of the Jackson 5, but she's not). Kentaji went on to bemoan the ill effects of an education without homosexuality. How would children watch House Hunters without getting confused? What will they do if they ever have a layover in San Francisco? Will they at least be allowed to eat Skittles? They may just have to wait until the next Disney movie comes out.

For Democrats, this is hard news to swallow. After all, June is Gay Pride month. Progressives look forward to this all year.

Typically, on May 31st (Gay Pride Eve), the liberals can hardly sleep. They're just looking forward to the Gay Pride morning when they can see the gayed-up Google letters or look out the window and see an effeminate cowboy walking down the street who doesn't care that he's half-naked in a school zone. All they want is a full month to celebrate without inhibitions or reason. But they can't even have that. Juneteenth ruined it all. That's right. A day to recognize the end of slavery just had to rain on their parade. It was thrown in the middle of Gay Pride festivities. Couldn't the LGBTQ crowd just present this at one of their parades? Many of them were already wearing chains.

It's unfortunate that we got to this point. Political zealots have attempted to turn the United States into a country of left-wing activism. If the Supreme Court hadn't shifted its ideology, we'd all be forced to bake gay wedding cakes (hopefully both grooms on the cake are standing up) or applaud gay couples for their courage (they aren't exactly going to war). The pendulum is slowly coming back the other direction. A return to normalcy is happening and that is a positive thing for all of America.
